SHUBH ARAMBH
Annaprashan Puja
Annaprashan Puja, also called Annaprasana or Annaprashan Sanskar, is the joyful Hindu ceremony of a baby's first solid meal, traditionally kheer or soft rice. It is usually held when the little one is about 6 to 8 months old and marks the step from a milk-only diet to regular food.
One of the sacred Sanskars of a child's life, the name itself says it all: anna means grain or food and prashan means feeding. Guided by a pandit, the family offers the first morsel to the deities, seeks the blessings of ancestors and elders, and celebrates the milestone together with relatives and friends.
